Just Another Student
By: Whispers of Ember
When she first spoke to me, I finally felt seen,
I felt important, special — like a dream.
Her kindness was unusual to me,
Because it was the first time a teacher took an interest in me.
Her smile made my heart flutter with delight,
I respect her, but not in a romantic light.
I wish she knew her students adore her so,
Every morning and afternoon, I hear
Her sweet greeting, her voice, sounding so sweet and kind,
Made me feel special, one of a kind.
But reality slaps me, harsh and true,
"No, you're not special, not in her view."
My eyes become open to this painful sight,
She’s like this to all, with equal light.
Equal kindness and equal smile.
I don’t want to complain, or feel too small,
For I am just another student, after all.
